What the Students Say

Here are some testimonials from a few of our students

Ed Gooden – School Direct Student (now Year 6 class teacher)

Queensbridge provides an incredibly positive, learning  experience for training as a primary school teacher. As a school direct student I received consistent, thorough and professional support from my class mentor, school mentor and all the other members of staff. The curriculum at Queensbridge allows staff to be innovative and creative, and the children really rise to these challenges to create a fun learning environment. As a student you are trusted with the responsibility of planning and delivering lessons, and you are therefore able to work on the quality of your teaching in a practical way. As well as this, the school has a strong focus on inclusion and accommodating students with SEND. They provide regular and in depth CPD sessions to support you in meeting these children’s’ needs.”

Dean Tanner – School Direct Student (now Year 1 class teacher)

“My spring placement at Queensbridge was a great experience that really opened my eyes to the type of school I wanted to teach in. All the staff from senior leadership to teaching assistants were welcoming and warm. Weekly observations were carried out from a wide range of experienced management which lead to constructive and helpful feedback. It was a great place to feel supported in yet you are given the freedom to tackle teaching head on with your own ideas. It was so great I applied for a job here and got it!”

Jodie O’Donnell – PGCE Student (now Year 5 class teacher)

“As soon as I arrived at Queensbridge I felt welcomed by all members of staff especially by my mentor (Bonnie!!!!!) and my class teacher. My classroom experience consisted of a wide variety of support from not only the class teacher but the TA, LSAs, Reading Recovery staff and SEND staff. I felt everyone understood my role as a student whilst treating me like a permanent member of staff. I was fully involved in all year group meetings, phase meetings and PDS sessions which made me feel more than just a student teacher. Towards the end of the program when deadlines were creeping up, my mentor and class teacher gave me a wealth of support and encouragement – something essential before a final observation. The amount of time they gave me was incredibly valuable and I always felt that I could approach them with any query – big or small! The inclusive approach to our training and the support given from various members of staff enabled me to learn so much about teaching. I was surrounded by outstanding teachers who encouraged me to pursue my goal and as a result I was luckily enough to gain a position at Queensbridge.”
